Washington, DC – Today, in response to increasing workplace violence in health care facilities across the nation, Rep. Ro Khanna introduced the Health Care Workplace Violence Prevention Act. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics analysis, 52 percent of all incidents of workplace violence in 2014 involved workers in the health care and social assistance industry. Additionally, from January 2012 to September 2014, more than 100 U.S. health care facilities reported nearly 11,000 OSHA-recordable injuries from workplace violence.

Members of Congress receive a variety of benefits during their time in office. Many of these same privileges are still permanently available and in effect after they leave Congressional office. These include access to the House and Senate floors and gyms, healthcare benefits, and free parking on Capitol grounds.

Washington, DC – Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), sponsor of the Campus Accountability and Safety Act, Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Susan Davis (CA-53) requested Monday that the GAO complete a review of surveys documenting sexual violence on college campuses and use this data to provide recommendations to Congress for developing and administering a standard nationwide survey to collect data on campus sexual assault.
