Student Civic Leadership Program
The 17th District's Student Civic Leadership Program is a year-long community betterment program spearheaded and self-designed by high school juniors and seniors from CA-17.
In small groups, students will choose a policy focus area and develop proposed interventions to address them, allowing them to better understand the legislative process and the issues that affect their community. Legislative topics discussed cover a wide variety of policy areas including gun violence prevention, education reform, and foreign policy, and are catered to the knowledge and preferences of the students in the program. At the end of the year, they will have the option to meet the Congressman, showcase their work, and watch other student presentations at the capstone symposium.
