WASHINGTON ― House progressives showed Speaker Nancy Pelosi they had the power to drag legislation further to the left. Now, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is showing them he has the power to make them irrelevant.

After the House passed an emergency border supplemental bill on Tuesday 234-195, the Senate passed its own version of the $4.5 billion legislation on Wednesday 84-8.

On April 9, 29-year-old Daniel Desnoyers tweeted about his ideations; rescue workers responding to the scene of his death believed it was intentional.

Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat whose district includes Silicon Valley in California, is known for his vocal opposition to President Trump and his status as one of the House's most progressive members. Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican from the panhandle of Florida, has made waves with his fiery Fox News appearances and his staunch support for the president.

But although they are ideological opposites on nearly every issue, Khanna and Gaetz agree on a key issue: the president can't start a war with Iran without Congress' stamp of approval.

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17), Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-1), and 17 original cosponsors introduced an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to prevent federal funds from being used for any military force against Iran without congressional authorization. Specifically, this amendment clarifies neither the 2001 nor 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) can be invoked to justify the use of military force against Iran.

San Jose – On Tuesday June 18, as reported in the San Francisco Chronicle, Lam Le and Hiep Nguyen were granted temporary visas in order to provide life-saving medical bone marrow to their brother, Tu Le of San Jose, who is undergoing treatment for a rare form of blood cancer known as myelodysplastic syndrome.

The bipartisan duo launched the War Powers Caucus, a group that says it is "dedicated to restoring Congress's constitutionally-mandated authority over matters of war and peace."
