How is your day going? I want to provide a few updates on what's going on in Congress and share some important information from my office.

Once again, the power of democracy and the tenacity of the American people has kept the Affordable Care Act the law of the land. Yet, what the Republicans who supported a repeal of the ACA did these past nine months can only be described as reckless. They pushed aside Democrats’ meaningful calls to pursue bipartisan improvements to our health care system in order to solely focus on how to calculate tax cuts for the very rich. This is not how Congress should legislate. I will continue to advocate for improvements on ways people access and pay for health care, including Medicare for All.

And with the new school year now underway, my office can be a resource for students and teachers:

-- High school students who are interested in attending a U.S. military service academy can seek a nomination from my office. (Deadline is September 30)

-- Middle school and high school students can enter the 2017 Congressional App Challenge. (Deadline is November 1)

-- School groups visiting Washington, D.C., can request tickets to tour the US Capitol.

-- Stay tuned for details about the 2018 Congressional Art Competition.

I hope to see you at my next town hall on October 18 at 7:30 pm at Kennedy Middle School in Cupertino. Follow me on Facebook and Twitter @RepRoKhanna to get the latest event updates!

I am fighting in Congress to make sure these individuals do not have to live with the fear of deportation and support an immediate vote on the bipartisan DREAM Act.

Middle Class Tax Credit

More than 50 members of Congress joined my bill with Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown that gives working families a historic tax credit. The Grow American Incomes Now (GAIN) Act would greatly expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) so that more families and childless workers are eligible to receive it and help ease the burden of wage stagnation.

Global Peace and Security

From the Middle East to North Korea to other areas of concern around the globe, the U.S. should not have free reign to use military force. I am proud to be one of the members of Congress who are defining our foreign policy.
