August 2018
Good afternoon. I would like to provide a few updates about recent developments in Congress and share some important information.
Cybersecurity Roundtable in Santa Clara
Thank you to all who attended Monday's Cybersecurity Roundtable at the UCSC Silicon Valley Extension in Santa Clara. I thoroughly enjoyed our robust discussion on falsified videos and news, infrastructure security, and government collaboration with the private sector in cyber defense. In the digital era it is now more important than ever to ensure that we all practice good "cyber hygiene" and maintain vigilance in protection of our personal data.
Special thanks to former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos, cybersecurity expert and author Joe Weiss, ForeScout Technologies vice president Jennifer Geisler, and all the panelists for their participation.
Ending Fossil Fuel Projects Polluting California
I recently authored a letter with Rep. Barbara Lee to Governor Brown calling for the end of new fossil fuel projects in California, as well as a transition plan ending existing oil and gas extraction in our state. We have experienced the consequences of climate change, with extended wildfires ravaging our land and rapidly rising sea levels threatening our coasts. However, as the largest state economy in the U.S. and 6th largest in the world, California is best equipped to take the next bold steps to protect the planet and improve lives. Rep. Lee and I are eager to hear back from the governor in advance of the Global Action Summit. Fighting climate change starts with taking on the powerful fossil fuel interests and moving our energy economy into an entirely renewable era.
Town hall
It was great to see so many of you and to answer your questions at my August town hall meeting in Newark. I hope to see you at my next town hall starting at 12 PM on Saturday, September 22nd at Washington Elementary School in Santa Clara. If you can't make it, you can watch on Facebook Live. Please be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @RepRoKhanna.

Who's Actually Getting Ahead in the Trump Economy?
Recently, one of President Trump's top economic advisers asserted that the U.S. economy is "crushing it," thanks to the president's leadership. In reality, corporate profits and equity markets are soaring while real wages continue to stagnate for the middle class, and big businesses are spending their tax windfalls on share buybacks to boost their stock prices. The former top economist for Vice President Biden and I unpack President Trump's donor-class economic policy and share our ideas for an economy that would "crush it" for all Americans.
Keeping up the Fight for Net Neutrality
There was nationwide outcry after the Federal Communications Commission dismantled net neutrality protections in June – a decision opposed by 83% of Americans. Shortly thereafter, California State Senate Bill 822 was introduced, which would restore all of the core protections for internet users. Now, the big telecom companies are fighting to gut the bill.
