STATEMENT: On TIME reporting, ‘CIA Sent Warnings to at Least 3 Khashoggi Associates About New Threats From Saudi Arabia’
Today, Rep. Khanna issued the below statement in response to today’s reporting from TIME.
“In October of 2018, I sent a letter with my colleague, Rep. Pocan, to seek answers as to whether the Trump Administration’s intelligence agencies performed their duty to warn Khashoggi of the credible threat to his life posed by the Saudi plot to capture him. Our letter’s questions were never answered in the response we received, and today’s reporting suggests the administration has something to hide. It is imperative for members of Congress to be informed about the intelligence community’s knowledge of Saudi actions and their potentially harmful impact on the well-being of U.S. residents and citizens, as well as any U.S. intelligence failures pertaining to Saudi activities that may have contributed to needless loss of life. I am committed to using my position on the House Oversight and Reform Committee and will explore legislative opportunities to compel the administration to provide complete answers.”
