STATEMENT: Rep. Khanna on Senate’s Decision to Not Vote on ACA Repeal

September 26, 2017

Washington, DC – Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) issued the following statement on the announcement by the U.S. Senate to not move ahead with a vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act:

"Once again, the power of democracy and the tenacity of the American people has kept the Affordable Care Act the law of the land. Yet, what the Republicans who supported a repeal of the ACA did these past nine months can only be described as reckless. They pushed aside Democrats' meaningful calls to pursue bipartisan improvements to our health care system in order to solely focus on how calculate tax cuts for the very rich. This is not how Congress should legislate. I will continue to advocate for improvements on ways people access and pay for health care, including Medicare for All."
