STATEMENT: KHANNA LEADS BIPARTISAN DELEGATION TO TAIWAN LEAVING TOMORROW

February 17, 2023

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA-17), member of the newly formed Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, today announced that he is leading a bipartisan congressional delegation to Taiwan to bolster ties between Silicon Valley and the Taiwanese semiconductor industry.

He is joined by Reps. Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23), Jake Auchincloss (D-MA-04), and Jonathan Jackson (D-IL-01). The delegation leaves tomorrow and plans to meet with industry leaders and government officials.

"I look forward to learning more about Taiwan's semiconductor industry and the economic ties between Taiwan and my district of Silicon Valley. As a co-author of the CHIPS and Science Law, the Taiwanese semiconductor industry is critical to my district. While I am there, I also plan to affirm the One China policy and make clear we want to do everything we can to deter a military conflict," said Rep. Khanna.

In addition to being a member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, Khanna is also the ranking member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies and Information Systems (CITI).
