STATEMENT: KHANNA CHEERS SIGNING OF FAST RECOVERY ACT TO HELP CALIFORNIA’S FAST-FOOD WORKERS
Santa Clara, CA – Today, Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) applauded the passage of the FAST Recovery Act to establish a statewide council that will give fast-food workers a seat at the table to demand fair pay and better treatment:
"The FAST Recovery Act is a landmark bill that will help ensure that fast food workers in California are treated with dignity in the workplace. I am glad to see it signed into law today and I hope that it will inspire similar councils to empower fast-food workers across the country.
"This victory would not have been possible without the workers who spoke out about unsafe and discriminatory work conditions and demanded improvements. Over the past few months, it has been a privilege to fight alongside fast-food workers in our state and be trusted with their stories. It took tremendous courage to come forward and I have so much respect for all those who did.
"Next, on the federal level, we need to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to expand collective bargaining and ensure unions for all. Democrats need to be clear: we are on the side of working people."
