RO KHANNA APPLAUDS SPEAKER PELOSI’S LEGACY AS CHAMPION FOR WORKING-CLASS FAMILIES

Washington, DC – Representative Ro Khanna (CA-17), Deputy Whip of the Progressive Caucus, released the following statement on Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement about her future in House leadership:

"Speaker Pelosi has been incredible in her commitment to delivering for working-class families in the Bay Area and across the country. She was instrumental in passing the Affordable Care Act, protecting Social Security, and saving the economy from collapse in 2008. She also signed the first War Powers resolution to stop the Saudi-led war in Yemen and stood against the war in Iraq.

"The good will and respect for her in the caucus is unparalleled and I am deeply grateful for her guidance over the years. When I was a new member of Congress, she trusted me to draft our nation's first Internet Bill of Rights along with countless other opportunities to play a role in strengthening our economy and creating good-paying jobs.

"If there is one thing to know about Speaker Pelosi, it is that she will always go to bat for each and every member of her caucus.

"As she often says, ‘our diversity is our strength, our unity is our power.' She has been tireless in her efforts to build coalitions and consensus among diverse perspectives.
