RELEASE: REP. RO KHANNA’S STATEMENT ON SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR KIMBERLY CHEATLE’S RESIGNATION

Washington, DC – Representative Ro Khanna (CA-17), released the following statement on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation. Rep. Khanna called on Director Cheatle to step down during a hearing yesterday in the House Oversight Committee. Watch the full clip here.

“Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle lost the public’s trust, and it was untenable for her to continue to lead the agency. It is critical that President Biden picks a replacement who will be transparent about the failures that allowed for the assassination attempt on former President Trump to happen and provide better answers to the American people. Our country needs to know that the Secret Service has the capability to protect our leaders at a time of increasing threats. I hope to see the agency do daily briefings on the investigation going forward,” said Rep. Ro Khanna.
