STATEMENT: Rep. Khanna issues statement on Nuclear Posture Review

Santa Clara, CA – In response to the release of the Nuclear Review Posture, Rep. Ro Khanna of the House Armed Service Committee issued the below statement:

"President Reagan said, ‘A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.' The Administration's newly released Nuclear Posture Review ignores President's Reagan's warning by creating new, low-yield nuclear weapons. A nuclear weapon is a nuclear weapon. Period. By creating more nuclear weapons, we ignore the second pillar of the NPT: disarmament. We will spend trillions of dollars on our nuclear weapons over the next few decades. Congress should instead spend this money on our citizens here at home. We already have more than enough nuclear weapons to act as a sufficient deterrent."
