COVID-19 Update: Shelter in Place Order Issued
IMPORTANT COVID-19 Update
Good morning. Below is an important update on the serious COVID-19 situation. Please follow all directives from local, state, and national health officials. Our community and our nation will make it through this, but it will require a collective effort from all of us.
Beginning at 12:01am today, the counties of San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda have issued “shelter in place” orders for all residents. These orders take a step further than “social distancing” by requiring nearly all residents to remain in their homes except for essential travel such as to pharmacies, health care providers, and grocery stores, which will all remain open. Public transit, gas, fire, and police stations, banks, and hardware stores will also remain open. All other businesses and governmental agencies are required to halt non-essential operations at their physical locations. This is effective from now until 11:59pm on April 7th, 2020.
This is a serious response to a serious situation. In Santa Clara County alone, the total number of COVID-19 cases more than doubled over the weekend. In order to slow the spread of this virus, prevent overload of our health care system, and save lives, we must all take action and make this needed sacrifice.
